Upper Deck Quality Control

It’s late at night and I’m just perusing Ebay.  Not looking for anything in particular mind you, just seeing what’s out there.  I come across this Tony Gwynn card from Upper Deck Premier which is currently being listed for $75.

Not a bad card.  Nice 2-color jersey card and an autograph too.  But if you’re a longtime Tony Gwynn collector, you might notice something a bit fishy with Mr. Gwynn’s signature.  That’s because it’s not his autograph.

That’s right folks, the problem with the Upper Deck Premier card is that the signature belongs to Tony Gwynn Jr.  Yet another case against using sticker autographs.

Kudos to the Quality Control team at Upper Deck.  Nothing gets past those guys.

Ha! I don’t think Jr.’s auto is quite worth $75 yet.

It is amazing that this happens as often as it does… I just saw an auction for a jr. card with a sr. auto. I kinda liked that screw up.

Love the blog! Keep it up.
