Set Building: 2008 Upper Deck Football – Trades and New Packs

While my ship was out at sea, I was able to complete a trade via email for some cards I needed.  Special thanks to Stephen out in North Carolina for the cards.  For my personal collection, I received a LaDainian Tomlinson 05 Playoff prestige base card, an 08 Philip Rivers jersey card, and an 08 Antonio Cromartie Upper Deck “Starquest” insert card.  In addition, I received the following rookie cards for my 2008 Upper Deck football set: #’s 220, 225, 235, 283, and 293.

After my return from sea, I stopped by the hobby shop to pick up 11 more packs.  As I expected, I pulled a ton of duplicates.  But I did get a few needed rookie cards.  In those 11 packs, I pulled two short prints, #’s 301 and 312.  I also pulled the following rookie cards – #’s 212, 231, 233, 236, 248, 272, 275, 280, 285, and 294.  Not a good percentage when you think about it, 12 cards added to my set from 11 packs.  Maybe I should try my luck with some retail packs.

However, the extra hobby packs did yield some nice trade bait.  I pulled 4 more jersey cards, which is a pretty good ratio.  Not a bad haul – jersey cards of Desean Jackson, Calvin Johnson, Matt Hasselbeck, and a jersey card of Matt Forte, #’d 018/350!  These will be added to my tradelist, so let me know if you’re interested.

I have a 276 and 315 rookie card. It’s not much, but what would you be willing to trade?
