Selected for Chief!!

I got some great news today.  After 13 years, I was finally selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer (E7).   If you are not familiar with the Navy, advancement to Chief Petty Officer is probably the most significant milestone for an enlisted sailor.  After 4 years of being eligible,  it is quite a relief to finally be selected.

So what’s next for me?  Traditionally, I will not receive my anchors until September 16th.  Until then I will go through a process known as Induction (formerly Chief’s Initiation).  There won’t be many updates on the blog until then.  I might post some updates on my progress via Twitter, so if you have an account, you can follow me.

Congratulations, I know what that means. When I was in, the chiefs all got merchandise from the Kansas City Chiefs, I remember a picture of them all in the cruisebook wearing Kansas City Chiefs t shirts. I was stationed on the Kansas City (AOR-3). Again congratulations.
