Since my ship has been back, I’ve been on sort of a mini-shopping spree over at Ebay. I figured I’ve been gone for awhile, why not treat myself to a few cards here and there? So, I’ve been spending a lot of time scouring Ebay for any cards that have caught my eye. Well today my mailbox was overflowing. Always a great sight to see the mailbox full of packages. Without further adieu here are some of the cards that I purchased:
A couple of autographed cards featuring Chargers rookie cornerback Antoine Cason. The great thing about these two cards is that they are on-card autographs. I hate the look of sticker autographs. Another thing I like is that Cason’s autograph is very similar to my own signature. I had to do a double take the first time I saw these on Ebay.
This is a great card featuring former Padres ace Randy Jones. He was a little before my time, but as a Padre fan I thought this is one card I should definitely own. I was amazed when I checked out Jones’ stats during the 1976 season (the year he won the NL Cy Young award). He pitched 40 games and over 315 innings. It’s hard to imagine any of today’s pitchers ever getting close to 315 innings. As a reference, Roy Halladay led all major leaguers last season with 246 innings.
A couple of cards featuring former Padre players Trevor Hoffman and Khalil Greene. Sigh. The Hoffman card is interesting because it features a gray colored jersey swatch. The Padres haven’t worn gray since the 2003 season. At first I thought the sand uniforms were hideous, but I guess I’ve grown to tolerate them.
An autographed card featuring Antonio Gates. Pretty cool considering he added his uniform number to the inscription. Again, another great on-card autograph.
