It has been a while since I bought any cards from Ebay, so I went on a mini shopping frenzy last week. Since the 2012 football season is almost underway, I figured to pick up a couple of Chargers cards. Purchases completed, the cards all arrived in the past couple of days.
I went old school with my first purchase. A 1964 Topps card of John Hadl, graded 7 by PSA. The card looks in great shape for a Near Mint card. This was selling for about $10 less than other PSA 7′s of the same card, so I had to snatch it up. Hadl debuted with the Chargers in 1962, but the 1964 Topps card is considered his rookie card.
Some of you may be asking, who is John Hadl? He was a 4 time AFl All-Star. The former Kansa Jayhawk formed one of the AFL’s most potent passing combos with Hall of Fame receiver Lance Alworth. Don’t believe me? Just check this video out. Personally, I’d slot Hadl as the Chargers 3rd best quarterback of all time, behind Dan Fouts and Philip Rivers (and ahead of Stan Humphries).
From one #21 to another, this is an on-card autograph of running back Ladainian Tomlinson. Only a matter of time before he gets his bust in Canton.
Finally, here’s an autograph card of Junior Seau. This is a great looking card. You can’t tell with the picture, but the part of the card with the signature is actually clear acetate. Very 90′s. RIP #55.
