Mailday: Back from a Long Weekend

I spent the weekend relaxing with my wife in Williamsburg, VA. I came back to a mailbox full of surprises. Here’s what I opened up:

A pair of 2007 Bowman Sterling Nick Schmidt Autographed cards. Schmidt was the Padres 1st pick in the 2007 Amateur Draft. He’s missing the entire 2008 season because of elbow surgery. The Padres have a history of 1st round pitchers needing surgery, most recently Cesar Carrillo and Tim Stauffer.
A 2006 SP Chirography Dual Autographed card featuring Khalil Greene and Josh Barfield. This card was serial numbered 18 out of 25.
A 2007 Bowman Sterling Mitch Canham Autographed card. Taken by the Padres with the 57th pick of the 2007 Amateur Draft, Canham is currently playing for the Lake Elsinore Storm (A). Jerry Crasnick recently wrote a very moving article about Mitch Canham and his younger brother.
A 2007 Bowman Sterling Autographed Rookie Card of Chargers’ TE Scott Chandler.
A 2006 Upper Deck Future Stars Autographed Rookie Card of Florida Marlins’ CF Cody Ross.
A lot of 52 different Padres cards.
