The Electric Friar

I just received this in time for the holidays.   The Padres team set from the recently released Topps Heritage High Numbers baseball set.  This should complete my 2008 Topps Heritage Padres set.  A total of 24 cards.  I have the red back and black back versions of the following players – Chris Young, Trevor Hoffman, Mike Cameron, Kevin Kouzmanoff, and Scott Hairston.  This is probably my favorite Padres team set for 2008.  The throwback  1959 Topps design is classic.  I only wish that the background colors were uniform.  I think the red background used for Trevor Hoffman and Chase Headley really stands out.

Now that the team set is complete, I can’t help but imagine that the 2009 Heritage set will feature a more different lineup.  Gone will be Maddux, Khalil Greene, Marcus Giles, Mike Cameron, Tad Iguchi, Jim Edmonds, Randy Wolf, and possibly Trevor Hoffman & Jake Peavy.   However, we can probably look forward to the rookie cards of Will Venable and Matt Antonelli.
