Mailday: 1st TTM Success of 2009 & Josh Barfield/Chase Headley Autographs

I just received my first TTM Autograph success of 2009, courtesy of Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Andy Laroche.  He signed my 06 Turkey Red card, which featured him in his Dodger uniform.  He was part of the trade that sent Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers and Jason Bay to the Red Sox.  He’s having a pretty solid spring for the Pirates so far.

In addition, I got three more Padres cards, all Ebay wins.  A Chase Headley card from the 2007 Topps ’52 set and a pair of 2006 Bowman Originals buyback autographs of former Padres 2B Josh Barfield.  Like the Tony Gwynn Buyback Autograph in my collection, the two Barfield cards are hand signed, serialized, and then encased by Bowman.

Headley had a so-so 2008, but with diminished expectations in 2009, he could surprise some people.  I still think his best position is 3B, but in order to facilitate that, the Pads would have to trade away Kevin Kouzmanoff.  Coincidentally, Kouz was traded by the Indians for Josh Barfield.  After a solid rookie season, the son of Jesse has struggled with the Indians and now finds himself battling for the Indian’s last utility infielder roster spot.
