Group Break: 3 Box Break of 2012 Topps Prime Football + 3 Packs of 2012 Topps FB

Well, I took part in another football break.  This one courtesy of Layton Sports Cards.  I haven’t participated in that many 2012 football card breaks.  The reason?  When I look at the checklists, most of them have very few Chargers cards – base or “hits”.  But Layton Sports Cards was offering the Chargers cards from this three box break of 2012 Topps Prime for $8, so I figured why not?

Here’s what I received from the three boxes:

2012 Topps Prime #62 Philip Rivers

2012 Topps Prime #62 Philip Rivers

2012 Topps Prime #107 Melvin Ingram

2012 Topps Prime #107 Melvin Ingram

Two base cards – Philip Rivers and Melvin Ingram.  At least I’m halfway through to a complete “set”  All I need now is Ryan Mathews and Antonio Gates. Those shouldn’t be that difficult to find.

Imagine my surprise when I the cards arrived in the email.  In addition to the two cards, I received three packs of 2012 Topps Football.  I guess they threw those in there since I didn’t score any hits.  Excellent customer service, if I do say so myself.

204 – Doug Martin (RC)
340 – Robert Griffin III (RC)
156 – Whitney Mercilus (RC)
84 – Pierre Garcon

Pack #2 was a Charger-centric pack.  Two Chargers cards, plus a couple of former Chargers (Chandler & Tolbert).  Three nice rookie cards as well.  Definitely the best pack of the three.

Topps FB 2012 Pack#3
410 – Tony Romo
5 – John Kuhn
176 – John Skelton
360 – Arian Foster
246 – Devon Wylie (RC)
239 Jake Bequette (RC)
73 – 2012 NFLPA Rookie Premiere
62 – Steve Johnson

I’m very happy that the extra packs were thrown in.  I’m will definitely have to check out Layton Sports Cards for future group breaks.  In the meantime, I don’t plan on collecting the 2012 Topps Football set.  If you’re interested in any of these cards, just let me know.   Especially if you have any Chargers cards you’d like to get rid of.
