Football season is almost here. Been thinking about the Chargers season lately. One area they definitely need to improve this season is the pass rush. So let’s take a look at a card featuring the leading sack machine in team history – Leslie O’Neal. This is his card from 1993 Topps. Card #87 was part of the “Franchise Player” subset. The subset featured such luminaries as Steve Young, Neil Smith, and Reggie White.
Mr. O’Neal leads the Chargers with 103 career sacks in 133 games. It will be a while before anyone catches up to him. Lee Williams is #2 on San Diego’s career list with 65 sacks. Among active players, Shaun Philips is the current leader with 57.5 sacks. So it’s a safe assumption that the man with the orange visor will be atop the Chargers list for a few more seasons.
