Another Brief Hiatus

Won’t be posting for about a week.  My ship is headed out to sea again.  Then, I’ve got a little trip to San Diego planned with my wife.  We are planning to visit friends and of course, watch a Padres game.  If you’d like, feel free to contact me.

Links: What I’m Reading During Working Hours

You have to love Friday duty days onboard the ship.  Everyone goes home to start off their weekend, and here I am waiting longingly for Saturday morning to come around.  Since I’m stuck onboard, here’s what I’m persuing around the internet: Looks like the Padres “youth” movement is in full swing as the Padres call up 27 … Continue reading »

Gates Returns to Practice, Merriman Still Troubled by Knee Pain

Some good and bad news coming from the Chargers today.  First the good news.   Antonio Gates was taken off the Physically Unable To Perform (PUP) list and was able to participate in practice today.  A huge boost to the offense as having a healthy Antonio Gates opens up the middle of the field for the … Continue reading »

Mailday: I’m Back Ashore!!

Well, I’m finally back ashore.   It felt like I was gone much longer than 8 days.  Constant drills, lack of sleep, and crazy watch rotations do that to you.  But at least I’m back for a few days before I get to go out and do it again in a few short days.  So upon … Continue reading »

Haze Gray and Underway for A Few Days

I won’t be posting for about a week since my ship is heading out to sea for a few days.  Nothing major going on, just some fairly routine training exercises.  There are a couple of cards that should be hitting my mailbox by the time I return (Legedu Naanee auto, Buster Davis auto, and some … Continue reading »

Brian Giles Prefers America’s Finest City Over Beantown

Padres RF Brian Giles refused to waive his no trade clause and vetoed a potential trade to the Boston Red Sox.  After the July 31 trade deadline, the Padres placed Giles on the waiver wire and the Red Sox put in a claim for him.  Preferring not to be a bench player on the potentially playoff-bound Red … Continue reading »

Well, I just got bit by the TTM bug.  In addition to the five autograph requests I sent out yesterday, I decided to send out 6 more.  Here’s who I’m sending cards out to: Sent a 2005 Bowman Heritage to Angels SS prospect Ryan Mount, c/o the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Sent Wladimir Balentien his 2005 … Continue reading »

TTM: Five Requests Going Out

It’s been quite a while since I sent out any cards for autographs.  So I decided to send in the following cards TTM.  I sent in requests to 2 baseball prospects and 3 football requests.  With the preseason just starting, now is a good time to  start sending out autograph requests to football teams.  Normally, … Continue reading »
